Frequently asked questions

  1. Will I be able to Make changes to my application after submission?

    ?

    Yes, visit the website (ndsegfellowships.org/application) page and log in as a returning user to make changes to the application until the application closes.
  2. How are my recommenders notified to complete a reference form?

    ?

    Applicants receive an email with a reference link upon submission of the application to forward to their recommenders.
  3. How do I access the reference form before completing my application?

    ?

    To generate the link for references, applicants must click "next" at the bottom of the page and then "submit" on the following page. Keep in mind, the application will not let you submit without completing the required fields. Use a place holder (N/A) in this instance.
  4. I did not receive the reference link, what do I do?

    ?

    First check your spam or junk folders. If you do not see the email, visit the form section of the application and use the on-line reference form. Recommenders can also submit a letter with the on-line form. This form and letter should be sent to NDSEGF@sti-tec.com.
  5. How do I submit my transcripts?

    ?

    A pdf copy of the official transcript can be uploaded with the application. Official transcripts can be emailed to "NDSEGF@sti-tec.com" or mailed to 3152 Fairborn, Ohio 45324.
  6. Can NDSEG use last year's GRE scores?

    ?

    The program was administered by ASEE last year, so we do not have last year's GRE scores. You will need to contact ASEE to see if they can send us your scores directly. Otherwise, you will have to submit scores through ETS.
  7. Can I upload a CV instead of a resume?

    ?

    Yes, a "cv" or "resume" is acceptable.
  8. How many references can I have?

    ?

    Three reference are required. No more than three (3) references are allowed.
  9. Can I add an additional page for cited work?

    ?

    No, the entire proposal must be no more than three (3) pages (including cited work, pictures, graphs, diagrams and charts -smaller text to identify these objects are allowable).
  10. How long can I be in the program?

    ?

    Up to a maximum of four year (48months)
  11. What are the program benefits?

    ?

    The Fellowship covers, full tuition and mandatory fees, and health insurance cost up to $1500/year. Fellows also receive a monthly Stipend of $3200.
  12. Am I eligible if I completed graduate school, and am in my second year of a PhD program?

    ?

    Yes, eligibility is bachelor's degree through your second year of a traditional PhD Program. Which means you would have completed your Master's degree.
  13. Am I eligible if I am a Senior in College?

    ?

    If you will receive your bachelor's degree before the Program starts in 2018 (July). You are eligible.
  14. Can I submit a letter of support in addition to the references?

    ?

    Letters, in addition to references, supporting your research projects are NOT acceptable.
  15. What do I put in the Graduate and Postdoc fields if I am an undergraduate applicant and have not received an acceptance letter?

    ?

    Undergraduate students, and graduate students awaiting acceptance into a graduate, or PhD program, should indicate in the Graduate School, or PhD Name field (Awaiting acceptance offers), however we will need to know your expected major.
  16. What do I put in the PhD section of the application If I am currently in a Master's PhD program?

    ?

    List the same university information for both the Master's and PhD sections.
